Chandragiri fort is one of the oldest fort which is build in 17th century. It is made up of big rocks. This fort is a beautiful window to Scenery of Chandragiri River, Arabian Sea, estuary (place where river and sea meets), Chandragiri Bridge, island and beauty of forest and coconut trees. The noon time is too hot and there are no well qualified shelters, so the good time to visit the fort is at evening. The fort is spread over an area of seven acres at a height of one hundred fifty feet above sea level. This fort is a very important place for history and Archaeologist students. The fort is built with big rock like bricks. The surrounding of the fort is very beautiful. There is a tunnel inside the fort. Hardly a person can move through it. There is a watch tower in the fort with shelter. On the entrance of the fort there is a small stage which is made in olden days by breaking the rock beautifully. On 23rd November 2008, State Archeological department and Cultural department of Kerala Government renovated the Chandragiri Fort with the financial support of the tourism department. Now the fort is again under renovation for upgrading its features for visitors.
